Book Blogs are Awesome

I’ve been going around contacting a nice handful of book blogs to review my book. Thus far, the count is seven, which is a very nice number for me. They’re not technically committed to actually review my book. If they find my book detestable, they can put it down and pretend I never contacted them or give it away. But I have been working closely with a couple of book bloggers lately. It’s been really neat to answer interview questions (to think, me, actually being interviewed!) and getting to know the bloggers. They really put a hundred and ten percent into their reviews and have a really good eye, I think, in what a reader is looking for.

Nikki from Wicked Awesome Books has recently finished reviewing The Chosen and I’m thrilled that she liked it. She did bring up that there were grammatical errors, and I’m glad she’s so honest about that. I know that my grammar isn’t the best and I’ve always lost points for excessive commas. Darn those commas! I’m slowly working on that aspect and hopefully I can bring an editor into my future projects. Read the entire review here: link.

I also participated in an amazing interview with Nikki which I believe she’s planning on posting Saturday. I recently just finished sending out my answers to another interview I’m participating in with Bailey of IB Book Blogging. She’ll also be hosting a giveaway of my book and some bookmarks. If all goes well, those will be up next week.

On top of all of that, I’ve been mentioned in a couple of blogs via the What’s in My Mailbox meme. It’s been really neat to see my book mentioned and told to the public that they’ll be reviewing it. Savannah from Books With Bite recently did a vlog version of that meme (or her version of it) and didn’t have the heart to butcher my last name. It was kinda cute, actually. (It’s pronounced FREE-tus or FRAY-tus, you can choose however you want to pronounce it.)

It’s really been an amazing experience working with all of these bloggers. I’m truly grateful for the time they put into each and every one of their blogs to help authors get more exposure out there. You guys are all awesome!

In honor of the In My Mailbox meme, I shall present to you the latest books I’ve bought this past week!

2-16-11 books

Books I've recently bought

I usually don’t buy that many books. But I really wanted Cloaked because I love Alex Flinn’s fairytale re-tellings. Tiger’s Curse by Colleen Houck sounded interesting and is such a good read, but I’ve been writing so much, I haven’t had much time to read. I want to just sit down and finish it in like a day. I know, it’s surprising that I haven’t read The Hunger Games trilogy yet. Got the entire trilogy for an awesome deal.

I was at a used bookstore too and decided to pick some titles up. The other books are:

Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson. The cover always intrigued me.
Flipped by Wendelin Van Draanen. If Rob Reiner wants to turn it into a movie, it must be good.
Jailbait by Leslea Newman. Synopsis sounds amazing!
Deadly Little Secrets by Laurie Faria Stolarz. I want to think I read a couple of great reviews on book blogs about this one.

Not sure when I’ll find the time to finish them all. I already have a nice TBR pile at home, so why am I buying more books?!

      Thank you for the congratulations.

I wanted to thank all book bloggers — not just the ones I’ve been working with — for everything you’ve done. You’re kind of like that unknown force behind exposure and sales. Without book blogs, I think it’d be extremely difficult (especially for indie authors) for any book to get noticed unless they’ve been given the whole promotional package by their publishers. So really, thank you, for the terrific time and work you’ve put into your blog.

Haha, I don’t buy books but I’ll be sure to keep these titles in mind when I go to the library next time! I think I have a problem with buyin CDs. I get the songs from my friend THEN I order the CD, it’s pretty much a waste of money but technically I’m buying it for the photos that come, haha.

I think I should buy books though, far more educational. 😛
