So way back in March, I thought it’d be fun if I wrote a blog post about zygotes to finish up the A-Z Challenge. That and it was the only Z word I could think of off the top of my head. (Really, how many people are going to think of zygotes when someone says, ‘Z’? Welcome to my mind!) But you know… I doubt many of my readers are looking forward to a biology lesson and the miracles of life. With that in mind let’s talking Zen!I really have no idea why I decided it’d be a great idea to have my own small press. Don’t get me wrong. I enjoy helping authors get their novels polished and I get to use some of my designing skills when it comes to book covers and sometimes formatting. But when a deadline rolls nearby, the stress can be overwhelming. And I have never handled stress well at all. Everyone handles stress differently. Instead of taking a deep breath and counting to ten or stepping away (like I know I should do) I instead want to take stress and strangle it and then beat it to a pulp. Literally, my inner Hulk comes out (or She-Hulk, if you want to be gender correct).
I realize that I need to add a bit more zen into my life or else I’m going to seriously implode one day. So I’ve been doing some research into different forms of meditation and yoga. Because I have a billion things to do almost every day, I keep telling myself that I don’t have the time to do anything. But if this A-Z Challenge has taught me anything, it’s taught me that I’m not letting myself have the time because I try to cram one too many things in the day. I never thought I’d be able to write a blog post every day because I just don’t have the time, but here we are at Z and I’ve written a blog post every day.
This year, I’m making it a point to learn more about chakra energies and inner balance (you have no idea how impossible the latter is). I’m going to incorporate a bit of yoga and meditation in my daily lifestyle and just get zenny with it. We could all use a little me time anyway, right? And if anyone knows anything about any of that kind of stuff, throw me some info.
By the way, the below video is the song, “Weightless” by Marconi Union. It’s been labeled as the most relaxing song and has been known to slow down your heart to about 60 beats per minute and make people drowsy. Listen with caution. But if you’re super stressed, listen. It seriously dissolves the tension in my body every time.
