I’m not really sure when that photo was taken. Might have been in 2007 or 2008. It was taken at a dog show which takes place annually in an adjacent county. The dog show just came and went and unfortunately we didn’t see any sheepdogs there this year. I love watching them get groomed. They’re so patient and the things that the groomers do to get the dogs show ready can be intensive, depending upon the breed. I do admit that there are times that the bishons make me nervous. There was a groomer/owner who left their bishon untethered on top of a stack of crates and the poor dog looked like she wanted to jump. She was wise enough to stay put, because if she did jump, I’m afraid she’d be splattered all over the floor. And that wouldn’t be a good thing.
I’ve taken many photos during the many events I’ve attended and this one is one of my favorites. With its hair tied up like that, it reminds me of a teenager from the 80’s. (Just imagine it with a neon T-shirt.) At the dog shows, one tends to see a lot of dogs that are either uncommon or rare and if you’re ever interested in a certain kind of breed and want to learn more about it, the breeders and trainers are usually more than happy to share their knowledge with you. After all, they’re animal lovers too who want to keep the integrity of the breed intact.
