If you follow me on Twitter, you’ve probably noticed my lack of actual tweets. Instead, I have some automated links running so that it doesn’t look completely barren and abandoned. I haven’t abandoned Twitter (I could never!). I haven’t quite abandoned my Facebook page (though it will happen…eventually). And I haven’t abandoned this blog. I’ve just been really busy. Like CRAZY busy.
From October–December of last year, I’ve been slowly getting things set up for 2015. I wanted 2015 to be the year I get back into writing. I took the last year and a half off to focus on my press and grow it. There’s still a lot of growing to do with it, but I feel I’m at a point where I don’t have to slam my foot on the gas pedal. I can ease up (even if a little bit) and breathe. Because truth be told, breathing is nice.
At the beginning of this month, I’ve been working diligently hard with re-edits for THE CHOSEN. I had initially planned on having all of that done by the end of this month, but that doesn’t look like it’ll be happening since I had a thing I overlooked that took over my entire writing weekend.
So what? you might be wondering. Who cares if THE CHOSEN is getting fresh edits? It’s a big deal because this will be leading up to the release of THE GUARDIAN. I’m hoping I can stay on schedule for a June 2015 release for the last book in the trilogy and I plan on giving the covers a complete face lift so that they all match. I’m essentially relaunching the series.
I’ve also been working on the back-end of the website and incorporated a store system. Everything isn’t worked out yet, but sometime this year you’ll be able to purchase autographed paperbacks directly from me and even some merchandise related to the series (T-shirts! Posters!). If all goes well, you’ll also be able to download the ebook versions of my books for any price you want. Want it for free? That will be possible. Enjoyed the book(s) for free and want to send me a tip? That will also be possible (and greatly appreciated!)
But wait! There’s more!
Going along with the pay what you want ideal, as you might be aware, I’ve been giving away one free short story toward the end of each month. I’ve taken the time to put each story together in a free downloadable PDF that you can save and read later and I’ve also included videos of me reading the story if you’d prefer to listen while you do whatever it is that you do. Though the stories are free, I always end my videos with the announcement that you can support my stories through Patreon, the eternal mini-Kickstarter. You pay for one short story per month.
But I started to wonder if one short story per month was incentive enough for your support in me. And so I’ve decided to also give my Patreon supporters exclusive behind-the-scenes extras. If I have them on hand, all supporters will get to see every single draft, images of any hand-written notes, sketches, ideas, etc.—anything associated with the free story of the month will be sent to Patreon supporters for free. I might also release these bundles for a price with each story to give people the option of how they want to obtain the behind-the-scenes information.
In the next few days, I’ll be gathering my notes from each previous free story that’s been released thus far. If you’re interested to see all the things that go on when a writer writes, then consider sponsoring me on Patreon today. All supporters will also be getting exclusive behind-the-scenes info on each book in my series as I re-release them, so keep an eye out!
